Our Story
Ugima Foundation was created to reimagine Kenya’s coffee sector by uplifting the communities that sustain it. We began by equipping smallholder farmers with the training, resources, and market access they needed to grow high quality, sustainable coffee.
As our work grew, so did our understanding of the challenges faced by women and youth in coffee growing regions. This inspired us to expand our mission to empowering women to lead within the value chain, and opening new career paths for young people through our barista and apprenticeship programs.
Today, our impact reaches beyond the farm. We support communities with education, healthcare, and sustainable livelihood initiatives that strengthen everyday life and build long-term resilience.
We are committed to empowering coffee-growing communities through sustainable farming, fair opportunities, and programs that uplift women, youth, and local families.
We help farmers restore soil health, grow diverse crops, and protect their farms for the future through the use of organic farm inputs and reducing the amount of chemical that farms use. Healthier soil means stronger coffee plants and better harvests. It also means farmers earn more, communities thrive, and nature benefits too.
