Ugima Foundation is a Kenyan Social Enterprise that exists to regenerate livelihoods and land through sustainable coffee and rural innovations aligned with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)..
To be a leading force in the regenerative agriculture movement, empowering communities, especially women, and transforming the coffee industry into a model of sustainability and social equity.
Regenerative Coffee Production:
We support farmers in transitioning to regenerative agricultural practices that improve soil fertility, increase resilience to climate change, and reduce carbon footprints. Together we produce (Ugima Coffee) premium single origin specialty coffee beans.
Barista EBVT
Through our Barista Apprenticeship programme, Young girls from coffee growing communities are supported to kick-start a career in the coffee value chain. The programme offers scholarships and connects needy girls with Job and career opportunities.
Ugima Coffee Clinic:
The Ugima Coffee Clinic serves as a hub for providing technical support and training to coffee farmers. Through the clinic, farmers receive personalized guidance on best practices for coffee cultivation, pest and disease management, soil health, and sustainable farming techniques. We conduct regular training sessions to equip farmers with the knowledge and skills needed to increase their yields and improve the quality of their coffee. These trainings are tailored to address the specific needs of smallholder farmers, ensuring that they are able to thrive in the competitive coffee market.
Community Development:
Ugima Foundation works closely with local communities to address social and economic challenges. We promote education, healthcare, and social-entrepreneurship initiatives that improve the overall well-being of the communities we serve.
Inputs Supply to Farmers:
Ugima Foundation ensures that farmers have access to high-quality inputs such as organic fertilizers, seeds, and tools essential for regenerative farming. We facilitate the procurement and distribution of these inputs to ensure that farmers are equipped to implement sustainable farming practices that enhance both productivity and environmental health.
Ugima Foundation’s work has had a transformative effect on the communities we engage with. By promoting regenerative farming practices, we have helped farmers restore soil health and increase yields, leading to better economic outcomes. Our women’s empowerment programs have enabled women to become leaders in the coffee sector, while our community development efforts have enhanced access to education, healthcare, and economic opportunities.
Ugima Foundation’s approach is grounded in collaboration, innovation, and sustainability. We work with smallholder farmers, local women’s groups, cooperatives, and development partners to ensure that our projects are effective and impactful. We focus on long-term solutions that foster self-sufficiency, community resilience, and environmental regeneration. Our work is driven by the belief that sustainable development is achievable when communities are empowered, and the environment is cared for.
